Like lots of people out there, we’re launching a blog.  This is where you’ll read about everything from new products to news about the upcoming Groundhog Day 2010 celebration to insider information about Punxsutawney Phil!

New to Groundhogstuff.com … Punxsutawney Gift Checks! If you’re a former resident of Punxsutawney and still have relatives and friends who live here, the Gift Checks might interest you. They’re gift certificates that can be used at over 100 businesses in Punxsutawney. The Gift Check, available in denominations of $5, $10, $15, and $25, can be shipped to the recipient who can redeem it for dinner, groceries, books, a fitness center membership, hardware, or something unique from one of Punxsutawney’s gift boutiques. It’s an easy and practical gift! If you have questions about Punxsutawney Gift Checks, e-mail us at info@groundhogstuff.com and we’ll be glad to help.

If you’ve been to Punxsutawney or if you’re a fan of public art projects, you might like the new Cat’s Meow Phantastic Phils! blocks featured on the home page of Groundhogstuff. The Phantastic Phils! are 32 six-foot-tall fiberglass groundhogs each creatively painted or decorated in a unique way. They’re scattered around at businesses and in the public spaces of Punxsutawney. (Visit www.punxsutawney.com/phils.) The four new blocks commemorate the most popular of the Phils. In the future, we hope have more of the Phantastic Phils! blocks, so start your collection today!

If you’re reading this blog, you’re probably a fan or know a fan of Punxsutawney Phil. Did you know Punxsutawney Phil has a Facebook page? Well, Phil can’t actually use a computer (something to do his small paws and long nails), but his caretakers have created a page for him so that his fans can follow what he’s up to. This should be especially entertaining come the end of the year as Phil begins his preparations for Groundhog Day. Just log onto Facebook and search for Punxsutawney Phil to become a fan!

Finally, if you haven’t looked past the end of 2009, for your information, Groundhog Day 2010 is on a Tuesday. You might want to plan your Groundhog Day party for the weekend before or after. Or, you could have two parties—one before and one after! Whatever you decide, Groundhogstuff has everything you’ll need to throw a unique marmot-themed party. If you’d like some advice, e-mail us or call and ask for Mary Ann, she’s got lots of experience in Groundhog Day party planning!
